Alzheimer’s Society: Why I Run

The poem – “Marathon” by E. Ethelbert Miller, resonated with all of the production crew, and was a good fit with the personal narrative of ultra marathon runner Sam Hopkins.

The shoot was physically demanding but intensely rewarding because the landscapes in Wales were stunning. We climbed Pen Yr Fan in the central Beacons twice, once with a full kit. And we were up at all hours to catch the light, most memorably walking over the land bridge at low tide to shoot on Worms Head near Rhossilli, then back before the tide came in.

The film was produced by Hogarth World Wide in London and won a Gold for cinematography at the Telly Awards.

And then Ethelbert Miller got in contact:

Hi,

The video is beautiful!  Excellent work.

Congrats on the award.

It’s been over a year since my sister (72) died from dementia.

So, your work finds a special place in my heart.

I wish you the best in 2019.

Below is a link to information about my most recent book.

Blessings,

Ethelbert.
