The only way we could get to film on a commuter train in Tokyo was to rendezvous with an empty train at 4am, two hours from Shinagawa where we’re staying. This meant leaving our hotel at 2.30am (Like Lost in Translation I was up any way) and we’d finished at 11pm the night before.
After shooting we were all creamed and headed off to breakfast, and in my case an encounter with a breakfast delicacy called Nattō Beans…
Oh, and the jetlag I experienced when I got back to the UK on the back of this production was biblical.
