The icebergs of Glacier Bay

Jökulsárlón, or Glacier Bay on a very murky day.

It had been many years since I’d kayaked, the last time had been at school, on a very risky all-day paddle down a swollen Glenelg River in the Western Districts of Victoria, Australia.

This was special. The quiet out on the water, punctuated only by the slow, ominous grinding of ice, and the trickle of meltwater was amazing.

Thank-you Dave Derbis for the photo.

Canon: Assignment – Iceland.
