Ian in the Pencil Plant

I’d never given any thought to how pencil lead was made so this shoot was fascinating. At times a bit like making a batter or a pastry, some of the colours looked almost edible. Ok, maybe not the green.

It took me back to my school days, and that ‘first day’ feeling opening a brand new set of pencils.
